Set at the top of 20 Fenchurch Street (otherwise known as the Walkie-Talkie building), the Sky Garden is a free public space set over the top three floors of the building. Between Christmas and New Year my sister and I decided to have a mini-adventure near her house in Manchester. We decided to make a trip to nearby Dunham Massey, at stately home and park on the outskirts of Altrincham (confusingly pronounced Alt-ring-ham). It was cold, but beautiful.
After a brief break over summer to focus on professional development (blergh) I have kick started my ‘see-one-cool-thing-in-London-a-month’ funtimes again. My first trip out has been one that has been on the radar since I moved down- Highgate Cemetery. Creepy Victoriana – check. Famous Tombs – checks. Friend with a similarly macabre sense of adventure – check. And away!
So I’ve been back in Manchester properly for the first time since I went to London. 8 months is a long time in this ever changing city, and it has gone crazy.
Epic bike ride time! Another part of the ‘see London’ mission this month was to explore the Thames Path, which runs along the river for 184 miles! I only did about 5 miles, from Kew Bridge to Hammersmith Bridge, but that was still pretty awesome, and another 5 miles getting to and from the river.
I have been proper slacking for the last two weeks; I still can’t go into why, but all will become clear soon. But having a lot of time on my hands has made me realise that I’m not as super productive as I think I am. Continue reading
